RANZAU.
A large number of householders assembled in the Ranzau School, Mr T. Wa'ker being voted to the chair. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted. Mr F W Smith, the Chairman of the retiring Committee, gave a brief account of the Inspector's report, noting that the Hope Sohool did exceedingly well, while the Ranzau Sohool did very badly. He also noted the change of teachers at the Hope School, and hoped that Mr Baigent might prove as successful a teacher as Mr Malcolm. A ballot was then taken, there being twelve nominations, and the result was aa follows :— Thomas Walker, 27; Charles Coleman, 26 ; William Col eman, 20 ; George Reay, 18 ; Richard Palmer, 18 ; H D Paton, 16; F W Smith, 14 ; W Eden, 13; EG Smith 11, T Coleman 11, T Newport, 10 ; C Nippert, 9. The Ohairman then declared tte first seven duly elected. The new Committee met immediately after, when Mr W Co' eman was elected Chairman and Secretary for the ensuing year.
