A Peculiar Charge.
Cheistohtjroh, May 9. At the Police Court this morning. James A. Selfe, an old resident wbo is partially paralysed, was oharged with having unlawfully wounded one Partridge by biting off a piece of bis nose. From the evidence adduced it appears that the men were under tbe influenoe of drink in a private house. A quarrel took plaoe between them, in the course of which it waß alleged that injuries were sustained bj coh, and both men were considerably knoou.l "bout and. bruised. The defenoe was that the aooused committed the aot in self-defence, as owing to his affliction he could adopt no other means of saving himself. The acoused was committed for trial, bail being allowed, himself in £50 and two sureties in £25 eaoh.
