Wellington, May 9. A deputation from the New Zealand Alliance, headed by Sir Robert Stoat, wsite i on Mr Lawson, son of Sir Wilfred Lawson, on board the steamer Dorio this morning, for tbe purpose of welcoming bim to the Colony and showing respect to his father. Tbe deputation expressed a hope that Sir Wilfred would see bis way to pay a visit to the Colony, where bis presence wonld do a great deal of good to the Temperance cause. Mr Lawson, in reply, said that his father wsb a very old man, and be did not tbink he would ever come out to tbe Colony. He had a great many duties to perform at Home, and besides was averse to travelling, unless it was for the benefit of bis health. He did not think that his father would undertake suoh a long sea voyage. However, he wonld represent the views of the Allianoe to him, ana point out how a visit would assist the oause.
