SUDDEN DEATH.

(From ' The Colonist, 9 Jan. 23.) A toong man 19 years of age, named Arthur Leopold HoUyman, died very suddenly on Thursday evening, at about 6 o'clock, at bit mother's residence in Hardy street. ftnd called the following evidenoe :— Martha Hollyman, mother of deceased; On Thursday morning deceased went to work at Mr Hunter-Brown's. He had nothing to eat for breakfast, but had two caps of tea. He complained at diuner-time of feeling queer. He had some dinner. He went back to work, returning at a quarter to 6 o'elook, when he was very sick and sat down ready to drop. He vomited, and then fell backward, I oatohing him in my arms. He then apparently fainted away. I immediately got assistance and Bent for the doctor, who came in a few minutes, pronouncing him dead. The boy had been aabjeot to fainting fits for the last month only. Dr Hudson: I was called to see deceased at about 20 past six last evening, I went immediately and found him dead. From the appearance and history of the case I thought it was failare of the heart. I made a post mortem examination this morning. I found the heart enlarged showing signs of valvular disease, the right lung otherwise healthy showed signs of old pleurisy, left lung was quite healthy, 1 oz. of fluid in the pericardium, liver enlarged, and a good deal congested, storaaoh quite empty, death wa9 caused by syncope or failure of the heart. This was pre-dispofed to by the condition of the valves and the exciting caase was the depression produced by vomiting. In plain English he died in a faint. John Prebble, gardiner for Mr Hunter Brown. Deceased oame to work for me yesterday morning. He was late to work ia the afternoon, and did not seem very well then. About 4 o'olook I ea'led him to come and pick up some potatoes, he answered, but did not come up for some time and then looked very white, and said that he had been vomiting. I told him to sit down and rest ! which hs did for 20 minutes, and then seemed better. _ He did not pick up potatoes as it made hi 3 head swim, and I gave him some light work that did not caute that. He lefc at five o'clock A verdict of died from syncope, or failure of the bean's aotion was returned.
