THE H. BATTERY OF ARTILLERY.
The half-yearly meeting of the H. Battery of Artillery was held at the Drill Sbed on Sept. 8, when Lieut. Topliss occapied the chair, and there were over 30 members present, including Lieut. Wimsett and hon Surgeon Dr Coleman. Lieut. Topliss read a letter from Captain Leggatt, in which he stated he was unable to attend. The minutes' of the last meeting having been read and confirmed, it was stated that Corporal Way had resigned, and that Bombadier Chapman had been promoted to his place. Corporal Wimßett exhibited trophies presented by Mrs Muncaster, Mr Dickenson, Mr Lorimer and Mr. Hamilton, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the donors, and also to Corporal Wimsett 1, for his trouble iri canvassing. It was reported that Mr-Hunter-Brown had promised to give tankards for the nine members of winning detachment at ordnance firing, and Surgeon Coleman also stated hia intention of giving a trophy. Lieut. Topliss complimented the men on their regularity at drill. It was resolved that the. Lieutenants wait on officers of other corps to endeavor to arrange for a paid marker for all corps during the season. A vote of thanks Jo the Chairman terminated the proceedinga.
