The nomination for this district took place on September sth, when Mr Joshua ■Bird and Mr William White nominated Mr Joseph Sheehaed ; Mr Edward Baigent proposed, and Mr Painton seconded Mr Acton Adams ; and Mr James Grove' and; Mr Painton nominated Mr Oswald Curtis. The Bhow of hands was largely in favor of Mr Shephard. Messrs Adams and Curtis being nominated without their consent, afterwards withdrew, and, on September Bth, the Returning Officer announced;that Mr Joseph Shephard was duly elected, j ; ,
