DEFEAT OF TE KOOTI BY A FRIENDLY CHIEF AND HIS FORCE.

Te Kooti attacked the Friendly chief Henare Tomaona and his force at Taurango, report says with 100 root Bnd 80 horse, and that another 100 came up i.fterwards. Henare heat them all back, killing three of the enemy, with two men wounded. Te Kooti fell uack upon Tookano, and is said to have a pa there. Te Kooti called out during the fight that he had lilled two Friendly scouts at Eotoaria. (hrom another cobeespokdent.) Weliingxon, Sept. 13. Te Kooti attacked the Friendly natives under Henare Tomaona,and was repulsed with a loss of three lilled, and two wounded on our side. Te Kooti /etreated to Tookano, thirty mile 3 away. The < lovernment forces are hemming them in. Nahee, September 15. News has been received here stating that Henare Tomaona repulsed Te Kooti a second time, killing five •>f his men. Henari's loss was three men wounded. Te Kooti, however, got possession of a number of jfenari's horses. He is still at Tookano. Colonel : i'errick, with 100 of the Tapueharuru natives, reached ' lenari's camp on Tuesday with a supply of food and :i mmunition. Colonel M'Donnell with 200 men joined ifenare on the same day. If it is true that the \Vaikatos are holding aloof from Te Kooti, he is in a desperate poiition.
