ANOTHER VERSION OF THE NATIVE MASSACRE.

(From the Raglan Correspondent of the New Zealand Herald.) September 8. A FEW days ago, Nieoruna. a native who formerly lived at this place, but has long been with the rebels, rame over from Kawhia, and brought news of Eewi having just arrived there. He says that Eewi, with ■i number of Wanganui natives, had followed Te lvooti, and had managed to kill all his men—this leader himself (who had been killed so often) having •sain escaped. Although, according to Nikoruna's :-..'count, Eewi's followers had few fire-arms, the Majority being armed with tomahawks, they seem to 1 .are used this weapon to some purpose, slaughtering : fry of Te Kooti's men in one whare. The reason : signed for the attack not being made upon Te Kooti whilst •in the Waikato country was that the i ing wished him to leave that part of his territory lefore inflicting punishment upon him for his proMimptuous aspirations to his crown. Whether there ->a any truth in this story is very doubtful, but it .>hows the great want we have here of direct communication with the Waikato, when all the immediate i iformation we receive of the movements of the rebels comes from sources which are seldom to be i.'epended upon.
