COLLING WOOD ELECTION
ELECTION OF MR. A. S. COLLINS
THE nomination of candidates for the representation of this district in the House of Representatives, took place at the Court-House. Collins wood, on Monday, tho 16th instant. The Writ having been read by I lie Returning Officer, the following gentlemen were duly proposed and seconded : — Mr. Arthur SiirjcKßTTiiGtH Collins, proposed by Mr. W. C. Riley, seconded by Mr. R. R. Feilowes. Mr. William Gibbs, proposed by Mr. Alexander Bow, seconded by Mr. William Williams. Mr. Edmund Wastney, proposed by Mr. J. M. Gibson, seconded by Mr. Charles Nicoll. The show of hands was in favor of Mr. Gibbs, being one over Mr. Collins — Gibbs 15 Collins • 14 Wastney 13 A poll was demanded by Mr. Wastney. The Registration Officer having eiven notice that the polling would take place on Wednesday, the 18th instant, thanked the electors for their attendance. This concluded the business of the meeting. THE POLLING-. The polling took place on Wednesday, at the several places appointed in the district, and as far as could be hastily ascertained, the result is as follows : — Collins. Gibbs.
