ANGLICAN LADIES’ GUILD AFTERNOON MEETING AT MRS OLDHAM’S The Kihikihi Anglican Ladies’ Church Guild held a social afternoon at Mrs Oldham’s on Tuesday, 12th September. Mrs Mcßae, president, presiding over a good attendance. Apologies were received from Mesdames Wynyard, Mahon, Allen, Pettit and Maunder. The afternoon was spent with competitions and social intercourse. Two vocal solos were rendered bV Mrs Oldham, accompanied by Mrs White at the piano. There was a competition for a vase of the best spring flowers, Mrs Anderson being first, judged by Mrs- White. The competitions were \von by Mesdames Anderson and White. The main object of the afternoon was to make a presentation to Mrs A. Maunder, hon. life member of the Guild, and past president, but owing to ill health she was unable to be present. A vote of sympathy was extended to her and after the meeting, three Guild members, Mesdames McRae (president), Oldham (past vicepresident), and Miss Temple (secretary and treasurer), called az Mrs Maunder’s residence and made the presentation which consisted of a hanging mirror and a fruit dish, together with a posy of red, white and blue violets and forger-me-nots. In making the presentation members reminded Mrs Maunder of the’ many years she had attended and worked for the church. She had been baptized and married in the church and had also attended Sunday School, choir practice, and church services for about 60 years. The presentation read:—“From the Kihikihi parishioners and Anglican Ladies’ Church Guild to Mrs A. Maunder. An appreciation for services rendered, September 12th, 1950. The recipient, although quite overwhelmed, made a brief reply of gratitude. The members, before leaving, wished her a speedy recovery. A of thanks to Mrs Oldham and the serving of afternoon tea concluded a very pleasant afternoon.
