Moving a Stalled Car
Though not set out in motor manuals. there is a simple starter trick which has taken many a driver safely out of emergency, as when engines have stalled on level crossings. An intermediate or the reverse gear is engaged, the starter button is held pressed, arid the battery’s power moves the ear backward or forward. If only the front wheels were on the track reverse gear would naturally be chosen, but a car which has stalled in the middle of the track, would be more quickly moved by using a low forward gear and the starter. Or the slope of the ground may be the determining factor.
