USE OF HOSES
Sir,-—The Te Awamutu Borough Councii recently advertised again the prohibition of hoses except from 6 to 8 a.m., I have kept strictly to these hours. Yet, as I pass along Mandeno Street, Goodfellow Street and others, I see people using hoses at almost any times, day, night and week-ends. Several were in Mandeno Street, and Kihikihi Road. Are these people playing the game ? It is time the Borough Council took a strong hand in the matter and brought these selfish people to heel. I hope an example is made of one of 'them through the medium of the Courts. Another aspect of the water shortage is this, can you tell me if private (swimming baths land commercial gardens are metered or restricted, sprinliler systems can be seen working in some of the latter. Let the Council back up words with deeds and I am sure every rightthinking citizen will be behind them and their representatives. Then we should have a considerable reduction in our water consumption, less fire risk through low pressure, and water for all.—I am, etc., “OPEN SLATHER.”
