ROTARY CLUB
WEEKLY LUNCHEON MEETING CINEMA SHOW FOR CHILDREN REVIEWED The weekly luncheon meeting of the Te Awamutu Rotary Club was he d in the Regent Lounge last Tuesday night. The president, Mr Phil Quick, presided over the assembly which was not quite as big as usual. Apologies were received from Rotarians Harold Scott, Frank Miller, Norm Dixon, Reyn Marsh, A. J. Sinclair, M. H. Williams, H. Rochfort and H. Babbage. Mr Quick stated that he had had an interesting time watching and hearing the children enjoy the picture show which had been specially put on for them in the Empire Theatre last Tuesday Morning. Mr Quick said that it was a treat to see the children happy as they absorbed cartoons and other reels jn ,an interesting programme. The club owed a great debt to Mr Jack Ansell, secretary of the club and manager of the theatre for his generosity in presenting the annual event for the children. The assembly showed its appreciation by a sincere round of acclamation. The evening was taken up by the Club Service Committee and the chairman, Rotarian Das. Williams, was the first speaker. Rotarian Ralph Armstrong followed With a report written in humourous style but demonstrating nevertheless how reports should be written by the various chairman of inter-club committees. The chairman of the Programme Committee, Rotarian Cliff Whitehouse, wound up the programme with a description of an Indian religious ceremony which he had witnessed in Mji. Thanks was extended to the speakers by the president, Rotarian Phii Quick.
