Public Notices WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL FOREST AND RURAL FIRES ACT, 1947 NOTICE DECLARING A CLOSED FIRE SEASON OVER PART OF COUNTY OF WAIPA PURSUANT to the powers vested in the Council under the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, notice is hereby given that a closed fire season is declared for the under-mentioned areas in County of Waipa from the first day of DECEMBER, 1949, to the thirtieth day of APRIL, 1950, both inclusive. Schedule of Areas where Clos'ed Fire Season Declared:— All the land in County of Waipa lying within the boundaries of: Blocks I, V, VI, IX, X, XV, and XVI, Hamilton Survey District, and Sections 60 to 75, Part Sec. 2 and Part 2 D.P. 10092, Sections 4. 76, 77, 78, 82, 83 84, Pukekura Parish in Blocks XI and XII, Hamilton Survey District Blocks IV, IX, and X, Puniu Survey District, Blocks VI and VII, Maungatautari Survey District, as more particularly delineated on a map deposited and open for inspection in the Waipa County Offices, Te Awamutu. Section 19 of the Act reads as follows: 1. No person shall, in any rural fire district during a closed fire season or in any county area while any order is in force under the last preceding section, set on fire oi cause to be set on fire in the open air any trees or timber (whether standing or not), or any bracken, fern, flax, gorse, broom lupin, grass, or other plants whatsoever, or any debris from forest operations or land-clearing operations, or any other combustible material whatsoever, except pursuant to the written permit of a Fire Officer. 2. Any such pennit shall be subject to a condition that no fire shall be lit while a heavy wind is blowing or if conditions are such that the fire is likely to spread beyond the limits of the land the subject of the permit. 3. Any such permit shall be subject to such other conditions as may be prescribed and may contain such further conditions and restrictions as the Fire Office granting it thinks fit. 4. Notwithstanding anything in the foregoing provisions of this section every permit granted under this section shall cease to be operative and shall be of no effect on any day in respect of which a broadcast warning has been given under section sixteen of this Act. 5. Nothing in this section or in any permit granted under this section shall be deemed to relieve any person from liability from any actionable damage sustained by any other person in consequence of any act, matter, or thing done by the first-mentioned person under any such permit as aforesaid. WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL Notification of Weight Limits and Speed Limits for Bailey Bridge over Mangapiko Stream, Frank-ton-Pirongia Main Highway. yy r HEREAS it is provided by Clause (1) of Regulation 7 A of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations. 1940 (as enacted by Amendment No. 6) that no person shall operate on or over any bridge which is under the control of the controlling authority any heavy motor vehicle which exceeds the weight limits or shall cause any heavy motor vehicle to pass aver any such bridge at a speed in excess of the speed limit for the time being in force and fixed with respect to that bridge pursuant to the said regulations. Notification is hereby given that the Waipa County Council being the controlling authority in respect of the Bailey Bridge over Mangapiko Stream, situated on the Frankton-Pirongia Main Highway, in the County of Waipa, has fixed the following weight limit and speed limit for heavy motor vehicles using the said bridge that is tc say:— The maximum weight of any such heavy motor vehicle and its load shall not exceed NINE TONS; The maximum portion of the weight of any such heavy motor vehicle and its load borne by any axle shall not exceed FIVE TONS; and The maximum speed at which any such motor vehicle may pass over such bridge shall not exceed TEN MILES PER HOUR. Attention is called to Regulation 16 of the said Regulations which fixes a penalty of £2O for each offence against the Regulations. J. N. ANDERSON, County Engineer.
