KAWHIA SCHOOL

IMPROVEMENTS PROPOSED UNIFORM OF PUPILS A combined meeting of the Committee of the Kawhia School and the Parent and Teacher Association was held in the school on Friday last to discuss the opening of the new prefabricated buildings and talk ' over plans for the general improvement of school facilities. The outcome was that a function be held on Tuesday to commemorate the opening of the new rooms, when all parents and well-wishers will be cordially invited to be present. School uniforms were discussed, and it is hoped to see an improvement in this direction, with senior girls in gym dresses and boys in blue flannel shirts with serge shorts. The drill dress for girls will be green rompers and white blouses. With the school once again a united body, the teaching staff, and particularly 'the headmaster, will have a much easier time, and will be able to supervise the children much more easily during play-time. The teaching staff have had a very hard time of late, and even with these improvements there will still be a lot to be desired. It will be a happy day for all concerned when a new site is finally purchased and building commenced—or, better still, finished. The pupils occupied the new classrooms for the first time yesterday.
