In the semi-finals Te Awamutu C defeated Kaipaki A 10—8. The final game between Te Awamutu C and Kawhia East A was a good exhibition of football in a game that was hard fought. Walter Macky took the first points for Te Awamutu by kicking a penalty goal from an easy position in front of the posts. About two minutes later the Te Awamutu side were given another penalty in an easy position but Macky was unfortunate enough to kick the ball into one of the uprights and it bounced back in-field and into play again. Kawhia took the play down into the Te Awamutu half very quickly afterwards and were just foiled from obtaining a goal through the ball being kicked through the in-goal portion. Following a scrum on the; line, Kawhia obtained possession of the ball and passed it about in an attempt to find an opening. The ball was passed into Macky’s hands and that player promptly applied the boot for a beautiful kick which sent the ball into touch on the half-way mark. After the half-time spell the game was stalemated on the touch-line between Kawhia’s twenty-five and the halfway mark.

When Kawhia finally took the game into the Te Awamutu half Bob Moki came through very fast with the ball at his toe to obtain an almost unopposed try. Tony Kerr converted the try to put Kawhia in the lead by 5—3 which was also the final score. The shield was presented to the captain of the winning side, Zane Templeton, by Mr R. S. S'linclair, president of the Te Awamutu Rugby Union. Mr Sinclair complimented the Kawhia team on their win and the Yeung Farmers’ Clubs on their fine exhibition of football. He also spoke of the object which' Mr McMillan had in mind when he donated the shield to the clubs for the tournament. He wished them the best of luck in future competitions and stated that he hoped to see the tournament as an annual affair.
