MOEATOA TEACHER RETIRES Miss Irene Adlam, who has been teaching at the Moeatoa School for the past three years, recently resigned, and was farewelled at Moeatoa and at Marokopa. At Moeatoa, Mr Roach, in presenting Miss Adlam with a cheque,! referred to her fine qualities as a teacher, mentioning the excellent reports that Miss Adlam had always received from the inspectors; and the fact that her departure meant the closing of their school. Miss Adlam suitably replied. Mrs Grice and Messrs T. Nielson, P. Uerata, E. Thrush, and K. Kura supplied the music for the dancing, and Mr Howard Bell was a very efficient master of ceremonies. Novelty dances were won by Mrs S. Mitchell and Mr M. Bell and Mrs M. Ngui’u and partner. At Marokopa, after little Yvonne Vicary had presented Mliss Adlam with a pretty bouquet, Mrs Roy Vicary, speaking on behalf of the Mart>kopa basketball girls, said what a tower of strength Miss Adlam had been to their team and how she would be missed next season as leader of their marching team as well as a player. She then presented the guest of honour with a leather compendium. On behalf of the residents on the Marokopa side the hill, Mr E. A. Mosley wished Miss Adlam all of the best for the future, and asked her to accept a cheque as a small token of the esteem in which she was held by everyone. Mliss Adlam, in reply, thanked everyone for their kindness during her stay in the district.

Mr E. Fordham was master of ceremonies and the musicians were Mrs Grice and Messrs E. Thrush, D. Kopa, and P. Uerata.
