MARCHING CONTESTS

WAIKATO CHAMPIONSHIPS SUCCESSES OF ROCHDALE TEAM At the Waikato marching championships held at Hamilton on Saturday the Rochdale (Te Awamutu) team secured second place in the championship contest, being runner-up to the Hamilton Citizens’ Band team. In the class for the best team-leader the honours went to Mass L. Graham, leader of the Rochdale team. Little Miss Lynette Waters, mascot of the local team, presented Mrs Hilda Ross, M.P., with a beautiful bouquet, the presentation being made on behalf of the Centre. The Rochdale team will compete in the North Island championships to be held at Palmerston North, and the New Zealand championships to be held in Wellington. A marching contest is to be held at Te Awamutu in ten days’ time, when it is expected that fourteen teams will compete.
