Tale of Tails Enraptured with the knowledge that on his farm were several stoats, and with the further knowledge, newly found, that each should be carrying a tail bounty worth 4s, a local Te Awamutu farmer recently made plans for their destruction. The deed accomplished—but, alas ! no tails. Some ingenious person, with no doubt an eye to the future, had several weeks previously removed 16s worth of tails and was no doubt with a similar eager anticipation awaiting a natural course of events. Such was the tale of no tails related at the meeting of the Acclimatisation Society to sympathetic listeners.
