Fruit Damaged Brown rot caused by unsettled weather has taken heavy toll of peaches and nectarines in Gisborne orchards. Rain has also caused later varieties of peaches to swell and split, letting in the flies. In one orchard with 100 well-grown nectarine trees the yield wag originally expected to be 1000 cases. Picking is now completed and because of brown rot only 40 cases of fruit in marketable condition were secured.
