TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE Messrs Newton King Ltd, report that at their sale at Te Awamutu on Thursday, there was a very large yarding of bacon and fat pigs. Competition was gqod and prices firm at latest quotations. Store pigs were plentiful but were definitely not in demand. There was a good yarding of store cattle comprising forward m.t. Poly cows and cows with calves at foot. A medium yarding of boner cows and fats. Competition was firm at late rates. There was a very large yarding of sheep. Mainly store sheep, lambs and ewes. The values used were comparable with the realisation at recent fairs, though perhaps in some cases for the younger ewes the demand was not so spirited. Small yarding of fats sold at late rates. Pigs: Heavy baconers £6 8s to £6 14s, med. baconers £6 2s to £6 6s, light ditto £5 16s to £6, heavy porkers £5 5s to £5 10s, med. porkers. £5 to £5 4s, light ditto £4 15s to £4 18s, weaners 10s to £1 ss, slips £1 to £1 18s, stores £1 10s to £3, choppers £4 to £B.
Cattle: Forward m.t. P.A. cows £lO 5s to £ll 2s 6d, ditto 2yr heifers to £9, ditto 18 month steers to £7 17s 6d, P.A. cows and calves to £l2, heavy boners £7 10s to £8 10s, med; boners £5 10s to £6 10s, light boners £4 to £5 ss, fat P.A. cows to £ll 10s, potter bulls £5 to £ll 17s 6d.
Sheep: Medium heavy prime wethers £2 to £2 3s 6d, fat ewes £1 5 S to £1 7s 6d, prime lambs £1 14s 6d to £1 16s, 2th ewes £2 6s to £2 Bs, small 2th ewes £2 0s 6d to £2 3s, syr old ewes £1 14s 6d to £1 16s 3d, 6yd old ewes £1 7s 9d to £1 12s 3d, best w lambs £1 5s 6d to £1 7s Id, med. w lambs £1 2s 3d to £1 3s 3d, small w lambs 15s to £1 Is.
