EXTENDING FROM AUCKLAND TO GREYMOUTH RECALLED BY CHARGE AT NAPIER An escapee from Hautu prison, near Taupo, gave himself up to the Napier police on Monday. He is Ivan Hardcastle Blakeborough, aged 21 years, who escaped on Tuesday last and walked co Napier. Blakeborough last year pleaded guilty at the Te Kuiti Courthouse to a series of breaking and entering and theft charges relating to Te Awamutu, Otorohanga and Taumarunui—part of a trail of crime extending from Auckland to Greymoutn, where he, armed and in company with another man, was subsequently captured.
When Blakeborough appeared in the Napier Court on Tuesday he was sentenced by the magistrate, Mr Sinclair, to a further six months. It was stated by the police that hunger forced Blakeborough to give himself up-
