MILK STATIONS

IMPROVEMENTS MADE INSTALLATIONS AT NEWSTEAD A fully automatic can washer had been installed at Frankton, said the Hamilton Milk Treatment .Corporation, setting out details of improvements in a letter to the Hamilton City Council on Wednesday night. The washer would ensure a sterile can. It was fitted with a hot air drier. After the arrival of a milk technician from Massey College a laboratory was set up at Newstead to handle all testing for the corporation. Samples were taken at the point of delivery to the vendor and tested as at time of receipt by the consumer. Most recent tests indicated a high standard. The entire water system at Newstead, from which the Te Awamutu supply comes, was under re-organis-ation, the letter continued. At present the water was tested regularly for sterility but it was anticipated that automatic chlorinating would be installed within the next few weeks. The letter was referred l to the milk committee.
