SITTING IN TE AWAMUTU VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS DEALT WjITH The following cases were dealt with in the manner indicated by the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr E. J. Phelan, in a sitting held in Te Awamutu Courthouse yesterday. Associated with M t r Phelan were the secretary of the Authority, M.r R. Hunt, and Miss McGuire, stenographer. Mr Wj. J. Brinden represented the Railway Department. Advance Cars Ltd. applied to increase the number of Vehicles on its Te Awamutu-Kawhia run to four. M/r John Sterritt, who appeared on behalf of the applicant company, said that the additional cars would be used only in the case of break-down or accident. The application was approved. The application of H. J. Dale (Mr P. S. Page) for an extension of the Te Awamutu-Ngaroma service to Mangakino was adjourned sine die owing to the road not being in sufficiently good order. The application of D. Bain (Mr P. S. Page) to delete two taxi cabs in favour of John Olsen and L. A. Olsen was granted, and the applications of the two Olsens for authorities were granted subject to the prices paid for the cabs being approved. The application of A. G. Wilson (Mr P. S. Page) for a renewal of his license was granted. Mr Page said that his client desired to withdraw his application for an .additional vehicle authority.

The application of E. J. Papesck (Mr H. A. Swarbrick) to convert his vehicle authority into a general goods license was approved. The application was supported by the Carriers’ Association. Mr Swarbrick said that the service covered the Te Rau-a-Mloa district and covered a considerable area. The cessation of cream lorries had added to his client’s work. The application of W. A. Heron (Mr Page appeared on behalf of Mr A. R. Hill, who was engaged in another Court) to delete one vehicle authority in favour of F. R. Lawn was approved. C. E. Vazey’s (Mr Page) application to delete one vehicle authority in favour of R. W. Haycock was approved.
