CORRESPONDENCE
A BAD ROAD Sir,- —Much has been said and written about those terrible roads in the far North. Perhaps it never liveo down the name of being the last place in New Zealand, where bullock wagons were used. My family and I have just returned from a 740 mile trip, going as far as the 90'Mile Beach. As we were nearing our home town it was decided to take a short-cut via Ngaroto and the Paterangi Road and in spite of our loyalty to our own town we were forced to admit we had not traversed a worse piece of road in the whole of our trip. Nbw here is my advice to any person contemplating a trip and not too sure if their vehicle is roadworthy. As a preliminary just take a run out to Paterangi. If you arrive home and tyave not lost your spare wheel, your hub caps or shock absorbers, tail light, or muffler, I am sure your car will safely negotiate any road in the North Island.—l am, etc., COUNTY RATEPAYER.
