REST ROOM
ASSISTANCE REQUIRED COUNTY COUNCIL DISCUSSIONS The chairman (Mr J. L. Wallis) stated at Monday’s meeting of the Otorohanga County Council, that the Rest Room Committee desired a contribution from the Council. He stated that the Otorohanga Town Board paid 10s a week for the use of the conveniences for picture patrons. Mr Wallis expressed the opinion that the responsibility for the Rest Room should be the Town Board’s and the business people and it should be under the control of the Town Board and the responsibility for it should be theirs and not any woman’s organisation.
Cr Jamieson agreed with the views expressed by the chairman. Cr Rothery said that in Te Kuiti the Rest Room was controlled by the Borough Council.
The chairman said that in Te Awamutu the Women’s Division, who had collected quite a substantial, sum towards the erection of a two-storied building in which provision will be made for a Rest Room, and a permit for the building estimated to cost £4OOO had been issued.
The matter of assisting the Otorohanga Rest Room finances was left in the hands of the chairman and Cr Rothery.
