PATENT LAWS
EXPERIENCES OF COMMISSION QUESTIONS BY MR W. J. BROADFOOT Speaking in the House of Representatives on the Estimates, Mr W. J. Broadfoot, discussing an item of £750 allocated in respect of the expenses of the commission of inquiry into Patent Law procedure, said that in America for several years patents had been granted to people who had bred new varieties of plants, and he was wondering whether a similar system could not be adopted in New Zealand. In further consideration of the Estimates Mr Broadfoot said he would like to know the possible date when the Government would assume responsibility for doing all the accident insurance in New Zealand. Would opportunities be given to those who had been trained in the business. In Te Kuiti the old post office had been vacated and there was a rumour that it would be occupied by the Insurance Department.
