Mrs Rex Nesbit has left on a month’s visit to Auckland.

Mfr T. Manley, of the staff of the Te Anga Post Office, spent his annual vacation by visiting Napier. Mr and Mrs G. E. Johnston, of Cambridge, were guests of MT and MTs L. Lobb for the week-end.

Mr and Mrs R. Blackwood and Miss E. Randall, of Te Awamutu, were visitors to Oparau for the week-end. Mrs B. O’Reilly-Nugent is at present visiting her daughter, Mrs C. E. Baker, Taupo.

Mr F. Klein, of Kiritehere, is now ■progressing favourably after undergoing an operation in the Waikato Hospital. Mr and Mrs J. E. McKibben, who recently sold their farm in the Hauturu district, are spending six weeks’ holiday in Kawhia.

Miss J. Reeve has returned to her teaching duties at Oparau after a holiday • spent at Morrinsville and Auckland.

Mrs C. E. Aubin, who has been on a prolonged visit to her son, Mr John Aubin, of Auckland, will not return to Kawhia until Labour Day weekend.

In the list of Justices of the Peace published last week an unfortunate omission of a surname occurred. The lady appointed is Mrs Mabel Eva Stewart, of Hauturu.

Mjra Martin Clark returned to Kawhia on Monday after a visit to Paterangi on account of the illness of her father. Mr W. G. Macky, who lately underwent an operation, from which he is now progressing satisfactorily. Miss Pamela Hills, daughter of Mr’ and Mrs A. E. Hills, left on Saturday to take up an appointment in Hamilton. On Friday members of the Kawhia Basketball Club and personal friends paid a surprise visit to the residence of her parents and entertained her at a pleasant social evening, during which Mfrs Y. Daly presented Miss Hills with a beautiful floral spray and Mrs J. A. Reeve with a handsome cup, saucer, and plate. Both gifts marked the esteem and respect in which she was held by her club mates and friends, and symbolised their best wishes for her future happiness and welfare.
