JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
SWEARING-IN CEREMONY AT ' HAMILTON There was an attendance of over 70 justices at a meeting convened by the Waikato Justices of the Peace Association in Hamilton on Monday night. Mr M. M. Shaw, J.P., president of the association, presided and extended a cordial welcome to many newly appointed justices present- An interesting address, enlivened by anecdotes and entitled “Crime and Punishment,” was given by Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M. Mr Paterson afterward conducted a swearing-in ceremony and many of those present completed the formalities necessary before they were qualified to serve. The membership of the Waikato association was increased to 108 by the enrolment of many new members. Among those present were a number of the recently appointed Te Awamutu and district Justices.
