VE AWAMUTU ELECTRIC POWER BOARD •EXTENSION WORK PROCEEDING Forty-six poles and 108 chains of new line were erected during the past month, stated the' electrical engineer, Mr E. Bryant, in his monthly report to the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board at Tuesday’s meeting. Additional low tension lines were erected at Oparau and Kawhia to supply new consumers, and the. Te Rau-a-Moa 11 K.V. line was livened up on August 23rd, giving supply of current to consumers’ houses that were connected. The peak load for the quarter was 3852 K.V.A., 3644 K.W., and .947 power factor, stated the engineer. Eight new transformers were erected, seven of these being at Te Rau-a-Moa. Four transformers were changed- in order to improve supply and one transformer was dismantled from the Air Force station at Te Awamutu. There were nine defective lamps in the street lighting circuits during the month, replacements being made at Ohaupo, Pirongia, Kawhia, Kihikihi and in the borough of Te Awamutu. A replacement was also made in the borough community lighting system. Duiing. the month, continued Mr Bryant, 37 new services were erected in the board’s area, and a number of others repaired’ or altered. Nine services were reconnected and ten temporarily disconnected while repairs were in progress.

Approval had been received from the State Hydro Electric Department for the conversion of the Pirongia We,st - McLure - Crozier Streets, Pirongia line. This work would be carried out as soon as transformers were available, stated the engineer.
