WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
PUAHUE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Puahue Women’s Institute was held on July 7th in the Panehakua Hall. Mrs Dean presided over 15 members, and welcomed all present, especially those with young children who have been prevented from attending for some time on account of the epidemic. After the usual reading of minutes and financial statement, several letters of thanks were read from our link in England, thanking us for parcels sent. Our link also sent us an engraved book and a coloured map of Kent.
The competition results were as follows:—Largest number of different vegetables: Mrs A. Johnson (15 varieties) 1, Mrs Dean (14 varieties 2; Prettiest tray-cloth: Mrs Glass 1, Mrs Roycroft 2, Mrs Going highly commended. W- Dean Cup for best bloom: Mrs Johnson (pansy); Best stem of flowers: Mrs Glass (lachanalia). The sales table was in charge of Mrs Currall. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Kite and Miss Glasson, and the pianist Mrs Going.
