RECORDS PURCHASED
ITEMS BY TE AWAMUTU PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN COMPLIMENT PAID BY BROADCASTING SERVICE All who heard the Te Awamutu broadcast given over IYA recently were impressed by the recorded programmes and they were the subject of many complimentary remarks. The items given by the Te Awamutu primary school children were loudly praised and not without just causeEvidently the items given by those children have impressed others also, for the Director of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service has written to the headmaster, Mr. N. F. Rigby, seeking to purchase the recording rights of three items recorded while the mobile recording unit was at Te Awamutu in October of last year. The records ethat the Service desires to purchase for inclusion in programmes other than the Te Awamutu ones are “Marianina” (a song), and two selections by the percussion band of the school, “Shoemaker” and “Gavotte.” The desire to purchase the recording rights of the items named reflects the greatest credit on the young performers and the School generally. Not only parents, but all who live in this beautiful town and district will join in extending to Mr Rigby and his staff their congratulations on the honour thus accorded the school.
