COMING-OF-AGE
MR DALLAS WINCH HONOURED HAPPY FUNCTION IN HAMILTON A most enjoyable evening was spent in Hamilton recently where a large number of well wishers gathered to do honour to Mr Dallas Winch who was celebrating his coming of age. Guests were present from Te Awamutu, Auckland and Hamilton. Dance music was supplied by Mr G. Sw’ain and Mr N. J. Winch, of Te Awamutu. During the evening two greatly appreciated pianoforte solos were given by the father of the guest of the evening. Among the many speeches that preceded the honouring of numerous toasts were those given by Mr T. Burchell and Mr Les Long of Hairini, both of whom referred to the splendid character of Dallas. The supper was in keeping with the importance of the occasion, and the traditional cutting of the birthday cake was quite a jolly affair. Mr Winch, jun., received many substantial tokens of good wishes, and the opening of the numerous parcels was an exciting moment. The hall was tastefully decorated and a very happy evening was bronght to a close with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow'.”
