A WATER HOLE INCIDENT Sir, —On Friday evening at about 5 p.m. a mob of steers were being driven along Racecourse Road. As they were passing the site where the Air Force building was burned down, one of them took fright and jumped into the concrete pool which used to be X ? used as a fire emergency precaution. The Air Force was notified immediately and the officers and men were on the scene with their fire tender within a few minutes. There was 30,000 gallons of water pumped out of the pool in about three-quarters of an hour, and the 6001 b steer was able to jump out. The drover was able to continue on his way quite happy, thanks to the Te Awamutu Air Force’s prompt action.—l am, etc., P. GILLESPIE.
