CHAIRMAN RETIRES

MR JAMES BEGG FAREWELLED BY N.Z. MEAT BOARD After being associated with the New Zealand Meat Producers’ 'Board since its inception in 1922, Mr James Begg, Dunedin, has retired from the board and was fare welled at the annual meeting of the Board last Friday. An illuminated address was presented to Mr Begg, in which members of the board and the delegates constituting the electoral committee recorded their appreciation of the services he had rendered to the meat producers of the Dominion. He had taken a leading part in bringing the board into existence, having been a mem-ber-of the advisory committee elected at a large meeting of producers held in January 1922. Before his appointment as a member in January, 1932, he had served for eight years as a delegate to the electoral committee. During his 22 years’ service as a member • of the electoral committee and the board he had capably and wisely served the board’s interests.

Handing the address to Mr Begg, the, chairman of the board,, Mr G. H. -Grigg*/ said he-had’had _ four years’ happy association with Mr Begg. Others who spoke, praising Mr Begg’s services, -were the chairman of the electoral committee, Mr S. D. Reeves, Gisborne, Mr W. Malcolm, Oamaru, and Mr J. Graham, Hastings The general manager Mr J. E. Evans, spoke on behalf of the staff.
