WOMEN’S DIVISION

FEDERATED FARMERS OF NEW’ 1 ZEALAND WAIPA PROVINCIAL The first mreeting of the new Waipa provincial of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand was held in the Division Club rooms on August 29th. It was an excellent representative meeting, delegates being present from Ngahinepouri, Te Awamutu, Ohaupo, Kawhia, Pukeatua and Korakonui branches. Apologies were received from; Mrs McDonald (Ngaroma branch) and Mrs Ernpson (Te Awamutu branch.) After repeating the creed Mrs McWhannell, convenor of the meeting, stated the idea of forming the new provincial was to further the work of the organisation and the provincial being smaller, the officers would be able to have more personal contact with the branches. The election of officers proceeded and resulted as follows:—President, Mrs J. McWhannell (Ngahinepouri); vice-presidents, Mrs Jenkinson (Ohaupo), Mrs Ray (Te Awamutu); secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. A. Godfrey (Te Ro re); housekeeping secretary, Mrs J. Kirkham (Ngahape); committee, Mrs Rye (Ngahinepouri), Mrs Holmes (Pukeatua), Mrs Orr (Korakonui); finance committee, Mesdames McWhannell, Godfrey and Mexted; bank trustees, Mesdames McWhannell and Godfrey; N.C.W. delegates, Mesdames Henderson, Hancock and’Godfrey; adult education representative, Mrs McWhannell. The president expressed sincere appreciation and thanks to Mrs Jenkinson, the retiring secretary, foi' all slid had done for her, for Waipa and South Auckland provincials. The secretary was instructed to write to Mrs H. Ernpson thanking her for her interest and valuable services for South Auckland and provincial in her capacity as housekeeping secretary. Mrs Empson’s resignation was received with regret. Mrs McWhannell reported on the progress of the Agricultural High School scheme and stressed that the names of prospective pupils—boys who have had secondary school education—<be forwarded to the secretary of the Auckland Education Board. The winner of the baby’s set competition was Mrs Saunders of Puku Puku branch. A tasty luncheon was served by members of the Te Awamutu branch.
