ANNUAL BALL

PIRONGIA FOOTBALL CLUB’S SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE X The Pirongia Football Ciub held its annual ball in the Memorial Hall at Pirongia on Tuesday evening, the 3rd inst. In every way the ball was a tremendous success and the huge crowd had a most enjoyable evening.. It was not hard to realise that the live body of committeemen and women, as well as many other voluntary helpers, had not spared themselves in the preparation of the hall—which was decorated most attractively —and the buffet supper which was greatly appreciated by one and all. On arrival the guests were received, by the president of the club and his wife, Mr and Mrs E. C. Beet, who incidently also did not spare themselves in seeing that everything ran smoothly and that everyone present enjoyed themselves.

During the course of the evening Mr Les. Whitlock, one of Te Awamutu’s leading comedians, supplied a brace of humorous items which greatly amused those present. The competition was won by Miss Isobel de Thierry and partner, while another unsualtyne of dance, in which Miss Gwen Livingstone —who for the particular number was ’named Miss Pirongia—partnered by Mr F. Beet, carried off the prizes, Miss Livingstone being handed a most attractive bouquet. Mr T. Roa who played the extras was heartily applauded by the dancers. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Messrs Colin McGruther and Max Blackie. Most enjoyable music was supplied by Les Stout and his orchestra from Te Kuiti. Noted among the dancers: Mrs E. C.
