MR V. W. SIMMS RETIRES FROM OTOROHANGA COUNTY COUNCIL t After fourteen years’ service as a member of the Otorohanga County Council, including a period of four years as chairman, the resignation of Cr V. W. Simms was received with regret at Tuesday’s meeting of the Council. In his annual report to the Council the chairman (Cr J. L. Wallis) said that it was with deep regret that Cr Simms’ resignation was received. He was first elected as a member for Wharepapa riding in 1932, and had served continually ever since, missing only one meeting during the 14 years. In June, 1941, he was elected chairman, holding the position until 1945, when he did not seek re-elec-tion. Cr Simms also represented the county on Waikato Hospital Board, and was one of the representatives on the Wi'aitomo Electric Power Board. Concluding the chairman said Cr Simms would be greatly missed as a member of the Council, and his position would be hard to fill.
