Peter Cherrington, sixteen-year-old son of Bishop Cherrington, left yesterday on the Northumberland for England to take up a cadetship in the Royal Navy.
Dr. H. E. Annett, of Hamilton, will be the guest of the Te Awamutu Rotary Club at its next meeting, when he will give an address entitled “The Future of Farming in New Zealand.”
Mrs Hilary Rhodes, who has been a member of the office staff of Otorohanga County Council for the past eleven years, has resigned. At a meeting of the Council on Tuesday the chairman (Mr J. L. Wjallis) expressed the Council’s keen regret at losing her services.
At Tuesday’s meeting of Otorohanga County Council the chairman (Mr J. L. Wallis) said he regretted to report that the county clerk (Mr S. J. Fortescue) had tendered his resignation, to take effect from 30th September. Mr Fortescue has been with the Council since its inception, and was at one time a resident of Te Awamutu, where he was well known and highly respected. Mr M. P. Goldsbro’, at present county clerk at Kawhia, is to succeed Mr Fortescue.
