NATIONAL PARTY
RAGLAN CANDIDATE MR HALLYBURTON JOHNSTONE Nominations for the National Party candidates for the Raglan electorate for the general election closed on Friday, only one nomination being received; that being the sitting member, Mr Hallyburton Johnstone. Meetings of electorate committees have been held throughout the electorate and nominations called for. However, the confidence reposed in the present member was evident throughout the electorate, and is 'deflected in the fact that his was only nomination. Mr A. W. Moore, chairman of the National Party in the Raglan electorate said that although the electorate had been altered under the new boundary system, the party was confident that it would be successful at the polls. Mr Johnstone won his seat in a by-election early in this year after the seat had been left vacant by the death of the Labour member, Mr R. Coulter.
