PARENTS AND TEACHERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION At the last meeting of the Te Awamutu Parents and Teachers’ Association, concern was expressed at the excessive amount of money that some parents gave to their children for lunches and other purposes. Instances were quoted to show that where one child has several shillings to squander other children are made discontented, and the temptation to acquire a little extra is created. The opinion was expressed that a too generous allowance of pocket money led to the formation of habits of extravagance and self-indulgence, and that proper training in the wise use of money was highly desirable. The meeting recognised the difficulty in many hemes of finding time to cut lunches, but hoped that moderation in the amounts of money supplied to children might be observed.
