THANKSGIVING

HARVEST FESTIVAL SERVICES Large congregations attended the Harvest Festival services held in St. Andrew’s Church on Sunday. The Church was very tastefully decorated, and there was a record offering of groceries, fruit, vegetables, and eggs, which are being sent to the Presbyterian Children’s Homes in Auckland. A feature of the decorations was a model stack and sheaves of oats.

The minister, the Rev. L. Farquhar Gunn, conducted the services, and solos were sung by Mrs Woodruffe, “ How Lovely are Thy Dwellings,” and Mrs Blake, “ In Native Worth.” Mrs Woodruffe and Miss Helen Storey sang the duet “In the Garden.” Anthems by the Choir were “ Lead Me. Lord ” and “ O for a Thousand Tongues.” A Harvest Festival service was also conducted by Mr Gunn at Pokuru, where the hall was suitably decorated and a most generous offering of gifts for the Children’s Homes was made.
