KILLINGS TO MID-JUNE The official figures of killings for the present season at New Zealand’s freezing works from Ist October to 13th June, as issued by the Meat Producers’ Board, show that lamb killings to that date totalled 10,861,754 carcases, this being a decrease of 113,781 carcases compared with the killings to 14th June last seasonWether mutton killings were 761,159 carces, and ewe mutton killings 1,945,572 carcases, compared with 603,382 and 1,535,523 carcases respectively last season. Details of lamb and mutton killings in the North and South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses, are as follow: (North Island: Lamb, 5,693,069 (5,683,409); wether mutton, 674,960 (508,967); ewe mutton, 1,147,601 (871,241). South Island: Lamb, 5,168,685 (5,292,126); wether mutton, 86,199 (94,415); ewe mutton, 797,971 (664,282). Frozen beef production is now 534,953 quarters, compared with 606,858 quarters last season. Porker killings totalled 200,936 carcases, a decrease of 11,064; and bacon pigs totalled 222,524 carcases, a decrease of 74,186.
