WEDDING BELLS

WILCOX—ALLAN The marriage was solemnised in the Presbyterian Church, Hamilton East, on the morning of Tuesday, March 24, between Betty Mary Brown, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. P. Allan, of Nixon Street, Hamilton East, and Leonard, eldest son of Mr J. Wilcox, Te Awamutu. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Carmichael and Mrs St. George presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a charming frock of dusky pink mouseline. Fashioned on slim-fitting lines, the bodice was Richelieu trimmed with a V neckline and short sleeves. The bias cut skirt was fully flared. She wore a navy toque trimmed with velvet flowers and veil ahd carried a cascade bouquets of pink begonias, cactus dahlias, zinnias and maidenhair fern.

Miss May Brennan attended as bridesmaid. She wore a smart frock of pale gold crepe soie. The bodice was arranged with a heart shaped neckline and short sleeves. Richelieu trimming and a deeper shade of gold finished the bodice, and the skirt was arranged yith tiny rows of ruching. She wore a black toque trimmed with velvet flowers and carried a bouquet of clover shaded asters, pompoms dahlias and maidenhair fern.

The best man was Mr H. Macaulay. After the ceremony the reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, the rooms being arranged with pink and gold shaded flowers. Mrs D. Allan received her guests wearing a smart ensemble of merone crepon and carried a posy of begonias and maidenhair fern. Miss Esme Wilcox (sister of the bridegroom) wore a grey taileur suit and a spray of asters.

When Mr and Mrs L. Wilcox left for the honeymoon the bride travelled wearing a grey frock, navy coat and accessories. MILITARY WEDDING CONNOLLY—GREGORY A very pretty wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday, the 11th April, the contracting parties being Lois Jean, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. W. Gregory, St.- Ledgers Road, Te Awamutu, and Corporal Raymond Henry, only son of Mr and Mrs L. H. Connolly, Hairini. The officiating minister was the Rev. L. F. Gunn, while the wedding music was supplied by Mrs Gibson. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a frock of magnolia satin cut on classical lines, the skirt being fashioned to form a rounded train, while the beautiful embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a pearl coronet and fell to form a second train. She wore a necklet of pearls and carried a bouquet of cream chrysanthemums and carnations. Attending the bride as matron of honour, was her sister, Mrs Gardiner, while attending'' as bridesmaids were Miss Rita Connolly, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Ailsa Burns, cousin of the bride. Little Joy Gregory, niece of the bride, acted as flower-girl. All were dressed similarly in cream net over satin with touches of scarlet and scarlet bouquets. The duties of best man were carried out by Driver W. Haycock, while the two groomsmen were Lance-Corporal B. Douglas and Driver B. Rountree. The reception was held at “The Lounge” tearooms, where a sumptuous breakfast was partaken of, the guests being received by the bride’s mother wearing a black-embroidered frock and black coat with accessories to match. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a black and white ensemble with accessories to tone. Mr C. B. Linehan proved himself a very capable toast-master. When the happy couple left for their honeymoon the bride wore a smart black frock, grey coat and accessories to tone.
