HAMILTON GATHERING TE AWAMUTU COMPETITORS Over one thousand school children competed in the Waikato Secondary Schools’ Athletic Sports Asspciation’s meeting at Hamilton on Wednesday last. SENIOR EVENTS In the 880 yards L. Bayly (Te Awamutu) ran into second place, and in the mile he came third. D. Kenealy (Te Awamutu) was third in the 120 yards hurdles. The Te Awamutu team was second in the mile relay race. Championship points: Hamilton (44 points) 1, Waihi (36 points), 2, Te Awamutu (35 points) 3. INTERMEDIATE EVENTS L. Harnett (Te Awamutu) won the 90 yards hurdles. Te Awamutu team was third in the relay race. JUNIOR EVENTS I. Pryde (Te Awamutu) was third in the mile and R. Johnson third in the 440 yards. Te Awamutu was third in the relay race. GIRLS’ EVENTS The girls of the secondary department of the Te Awamutu District High School have good reason to be proud of their achievements. Of the four running events for representatives from girls’ schools Te Awamutu won three. B. Hastie was second in the 100 yards (senior). Te Awamutu won the relay race. In the junior section NHenderson won the 100 yards; and the Te Awamutu team won the relay event. Primary Schools’ Relay: Huntly 1, Te Awamutu 2, Te Aroha 3. Time, 55 2-5 seconds ( a record).
