A number of carpenters resident in Te Awamutu last evening received instructions, under the recently gazetted National Emergency Regulations, to proceed to certain defence construction works. Meetings of householders for the election of school committees will be held throughout the district this evening. Chairmen and secretaries are cordially invited to post in or ring up ’phone 28 with reports of these gatherings. In connection with the operations of the Te Awamutu Welding Club (mechanical section of the local E.P.S.) it is worthy of mention that valuable assistance is being rendered by Mr S. V. Gittos, of the Technical School wood-working department. He is giving wonderful help to the technicians in the matter of making carriers lot the signal lamps, while he has also made an elaborate printing frame in which the technical drawings can be blue-printed. - /
