SUGAR RATIONING
ALTHOUGH the procedure to be adopted in obtaining ration books for sugar has been made clear to the public, ho explanation has been given as to the manner in which the authorities propose to prevent inequalities in the apportioning of supplies to individuals. Sugar rationing in theory may seem simple enough. In practice it seems bound to involve a multitude of minor difficulties. But if rationing be necessary, then a start must be made, and it is clearly in the best, interests of the community that every citizen should, in the meantime, concentrate upon playing his or her part accurately and with dispatch. The task of issuing ration books is in itself an enormous one, but can be lightened considerably if people apply early and at times at which their applications can be most conveniently handled. No doubt after the books are distributed the actual method of rationing will be fully explained, and the various means of overcoming anomalies may then, very properly, be discussed.
