NEED FOR ACTION “We have to take decisions all the time. At this very moment we are on the way to reconstruction or to destruction. The reconstructive forces are already struggling with the destructive ones. “ The British people and the overwhelmed countries feel that they are in need, and therefore they are in action, not for mere existence but for their real life. Hitler and his conspirators are-threatening to rob every institution of its own nature. “They are occupied in destroying that rich variegation through which Christian Europe created a culture that put Egypt, Hellas, and Rome in the shade. Their hands try to violate the embroidery of God into which the cross has been worked. E’Jgland must not be England; the Netherlands must not be the Netherlands; Oxford not Oxford; the church no church, the trade unions no trade unions, the family no natural love context; trade no working community of free men.
