FAREWELL EVENING

MISS B. MALONE HONOURED A farewell social was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs T. W. Gee, Teasdale Street, last Thursday night in honour of Miss Barbara Malone, who is leaving Te Awamutu to join the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. Miss Malone has resided in Te Awamutu for several years, and the many friends she has made during her stay will be sorry at her departure, but will wish her the best of good fortune in her new sphere of duty; she has endeared herself to all with whom she has come in contact. Throughout the evening Mr Rodney Rradcok provided instrumental music, and vocal solos were rendered at intervals by Miss Aureen Annibal. Mr F. O’Connor, in making a presentation of a fountain pen to Miss Malone, said he felt sure she would make a success of her new career, and in asking her to accept this tangible token of their esteem he did so in knowledge of the fact that Barbara aook with her the good wishes of all present. Miss Malone suitably responded. Among‘those present were Misses B. Malone, B. O’Connor, A. McKerrow, P., J., and N. Brown, S. Anderson, H. Borden, J. Sizemore, A. Annibal, and P. Gee.
