WOMEN’S AUXILIARY THE TE AWAMUTU BRANCH t.j ■ 1 . —i A meeting of the committee of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary was held on Thursday, when there were present: Mesdames A. Kay (chair), S. C. B. Macky, H. A. Swarbrick, F. J. Ryburn, E. Godfree, J. C. Montefiore, G. Angus, and Brian Taylor- (hon. secretary), and Miss H. Macky. An apology for absence was received from Mrs L. G. Armstrong. The action of the chairwoman in appointing, with the Executive’s concurrence, Mrs Ryburn as interviewing officer was approved. In response to representations, it was announced that the Hon. E. R. Davis had agreed to the branch using a shop in the Commercial Hotel buildings as headquarters, and he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his generosity in the matter. It was decided to open this shop on Thursdays from 10.30 a.m. till 3.30 p.m., and Mrs Kay will take charge.next Thursday, Mrs Angus.on the 23rd, Miss Macky on the 30th, and Mrs Godfree on May 7. . It was agreed unanimously to send a letter of thanks to Mr A. G. Warburton for his kindness in allowing “The Courier” office to be used up to the present as headquarters of the branch and to acquaint him with the fact that his action had been much appreciated. Mrs Brian Taylor tendered her resignation as secretary owing to increasing demands on her time. The resignation was accepted with regret, but, in response to requests, Mrs Taylor agreed to carry on the secretarial duties for another month. The finding of accommodation for IGO men who might. be called upon to be evacuated to the Te Awamutu district for its defence was left to Mrs Angus and the Evacuation Committee.
